The visit carries special significance as it is Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s first official trip to Russia in his new capacity. Russia and Vietnam share a longstanding traditional friendship and close ties, and have established the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung’s participation in the ASEAN–Russia Summit demonstrates Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development, as well as the diversification and multilateralization of external relations in line with the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress.
The visit sends a clear message of Vietnam’s high regard for the Strategic Partnership between ASEAN and Russia, contributes to strengthening Vietnam’s role as a bridge between the two sides, and create fresh momentum for ASEAN–Russia relations.
