During the meeting, the Prime Minister proposed that both sides continue to deepen the Vietnam-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and boost defense-security cooperation, while expanding collaboration into science and technology, innovation, critical raw materials, strategic infrastructure, and energy, digital, and green transitions.
He also called for strengthened cooperation in developing new energy sources and modernizing energy infrastructure; enhancing collaboration on strategic transport infrastructure—particularly high-speed rail, urban railways, seaports, and aviation.
PM Hung called for support regarding capital, technology, and workforce training and encouraged European enterprises to invest in Vietnam. He urged the ambassadors to continue promoting the effective implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), expedite the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and support the European Commission’s early removal of its illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing “yellow card” against Vietnam.
For his part, Ambassador Guerrier emphasized Vietnam's crucial role amidst the current complex global landscape, noting that maintaining and strengthening a stable, trusting cooperative relationship with Vietnam is of particular importance to the EU.
EU businesses seek to strengthen cooperation and investment, particularly in the green transition, supply chains, transportation, strategic infrastructure, critical raw materials, science and technology, security and defense, and other areas of mutual interest, he said.
