Trump will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday and Friday. This is the first visit to China by a US president since Trump's visit in 2017.

16 business executives were invited to join Trump on his trip, including Apple CEO Tim Cook and Tesla and SpaceX chief Elon Musk. Observers anticipate the possible creation of new US-China investment and trade councils and a deal that would allow China to invest up to 1 trillion USD in the US. Neither Washington nor Beijing has confirmed that speculation.

Trump has said his meeting with Xi will focus on energy and Iran, and he stressed China’s important role in the Strait of Hormuz. He said China gets roughly 40% of its oil through the strait and Xi wants the situation there resolved.
