Party General Secretary and State President To Lam made the remark during a Friday’s visit to the site of an ongoing mission to search for and recover martyrs’ remains at Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City.
He stressed that the Vietnamese people and the Party never forget those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, describing this as a core moral value and an enduring cultural tradition of Vietnam.
Mr. Lam noted that every set of remains recovered represents the return of a son or daughter to their family, the return of a part of history, and a reaffirmation of Vietnam’s cherished traditions of gratitude and remembrance.
“Ho Chi Minh City should mobilize the strength of the entire political system, scientists, historical witnesses and the people, while expanding reviews of all potential burial sites across the city, not only at Le Thi Rieng Park, but also in areas where fierce battles took place during different periods of the resistance wars,” he said.
Earlier, the General Secretary and State President offered incense at the statue of former Party leader Tran Phu, the memorial dedicated to heroes and martyrs who fell during the 1968 Tet Offensive and General Uprising, the martyrs’ remains hall, and the shrines honoring Heroes and Martyrs Le Thi Rieng and Tran Van Kieu.
