The seminar’s message encouraged reflection on how memories of war can serve as a driving force for building peace—transforming the acknowledgment of past losses into understanding, compassion, and a spirit of reconciliation, while fostering a shared sense of responsibility for the future.
Pham Quang Vinh, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, former Vietnamese Ambassador to the United States, and President of the Vietnam-USA Society, said, “The aspiration for peace—the desire to bring peace to the world and cooperate for shared development—is a common human longing. It is a goal that the entire world has joined hands to pursue for years. From the suffering caused by war, we have drawn lessons and insights on how to make peace a reality and ensure its sustainability.”
Delegates discussed “The value of peace in today’s volatile world” and “Building a culture of peace for a sustainable future.” Over 120 domestic and international delegates signed a message addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres: “We stand here, joining hands in a shared wish: Peace for every person, every household, and every nation. No war against anyone, anywhere, or for any reason.”
The international seminar was the third organized by the Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation in Quang Tri Province, following events in 2018 and 2024.
