Major Sri Lankan media outlets, including News First Sri Lanka, Newswire Sri Lanka, Ada Derana and Sri Lanka Mirror, widely covered the Vietnamese top leader’s activities in Colombo, including the official welcome ceremony, high-level talks, the signing of cooperation agreements, meetings with the press and business community, and parliamentary diplomacy activities.

Many reports described the visit as a “historic turning point” and “a new chapter in bilateral relations.”

One of the key developments highlighted by Sri Lankan media was the agreement to upgrade Vietnam–Sri Lanka ties to a Comprehensive Partnership.

According to local media, the elevation of bilateral ties is of great political and diplomatic significance, laying the foundation for deeper practical cooperation in strategic sectors such as trade, logistics, maritime affairs, energy, digital technology, agriculture, and regional connectivity.

Several reports noted that the upgraded relationship reflects growing political trust and the two countries’ determination to advance long-term, substantive cooperation.

Sri Lankan media also focused on the two sides’ target of raising bilateral trade turnover to 1 billion USD by 2030, as well as their agreement to promote the launch of direct flights between the two countries this year.
