Syrian civilians likely to become human shields for IS

(VOVWORLD) - Counter-Islamic State coalition spokesman Colonel Ryan Dillon warned on Sunday that the terror faction was likely holding civilians hostage, using them as human shields in several areas across Syria.

Colonel Dillon quoted local people as saying IS was detaining many civilians in buildings they are hiding in to hamper the coalition’s attacks. Their moves aim to impede the advancement of the coalition and government-backed forces, especially in populated districts in central Raqa.
