The plan aims to install rooftop solar systems with battery energy storage systems (BESS) on more than 80% of eligible factories in industrial parks and clusters, generating 950 MW of capacity. Another 120 MW is expected from rooftop solar installations on half of eligible government offices, public institutions, organizations and detached homes.
The target is expected to boost the development of clean energy while strengthening energy security, easing pressure on the national power grid, supporting Vietnam's greenhouse gas emissions reduction commitments, promoting green growth, and enhancing the province's attractiveness to investors.
As of the end of June 2026, Thai Nguyen had around 73.46 MW of installed rooftop solar capacity combined with BESS.
