Addressing the congress, Mr. Lam stressed that humanitarian work should extend beyond emergency relief in response to natural disasters, epidemics, and other crises to become an integral part of human development strategies, social welfare, risk management, and efforts to strengthen community resilience.
He emphasized that all humanitarian activities must place people at the center, respond to real needs, and be measured by the positive changes they bring to beneficiaries’ lives.
“Trust is the most valuable asset in humanitarian work. The Red Cross must place transparency, integrity, accountability, and openness at the heart of its operations. All donations must be managed and allocated for their intended purposes,” said the Party leader and President.
Donors have the right to know how resources are used, who benefits from them, and what results are achieved, he said. “Beneficiaries, in turn, have the right to provide feedback on the relevance, fairness, and timeliness of the assistance they receive.”
At the congress, an 85-member leadership board of the Vietnam Red Cross Society for the 2026-2031 term was introduced. Do Thi Thu Thao was re-elected as President of the Society.
