General Secretary and President Lam on Monday chaired the second session of the Central Steering Committee for Vietnamese culture development in Hanoi, where Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Permanent Member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu were present.
In his address, top leader Lam recognized culture as a pillar of development, a new driving force for growth, present in all decisions on economics, politics, education, science and technology, national defense, security, foreign affairs, and national governance. He requested that ministries, sectors, and localities continue to improve institutions, create breakthroughs to unleash the creativity of the entire society, and effectively mobilize, allocate, and utilize all resources for cultural development.
Efforts should be made to review, update, and refine cultural development strategies, plans, and programs to suit the requirements of the new phase, focus on the Vietnam Cultural Development Strategy to 2035, with a vision to 2045, ensure consistency between cultural development goals and socio-economic development goals, the Party and State leader said.
“We will shift strongly from a cultural management mindset to a development-oriented mindset, promote the creative role of the people, encourage the involvement of businesses, social organizations, and the community. Maximum resources will be mobilized from within and outside the State to build an advanced Vietnamese culture, rich in national identity, with competitiveness and the ability to make an impact in the new era. We will strengthen cultural sovereignty in the digital space and enhance the attractiveness and the protection of traditional Vietnamese cultural values,” Mr. Lam added.
