Receiving Ian L. Edwards, President and CEO of AtkinsRéalis, General Secretary and President Lam To Lam called on the Group clarify the possibilities for cooperation, technology transfer, localization, and workforce training within Vietnam's nuclear power program, based on the principle that safety is the paramount requirement.
For his part, Edwards expressed interest in opportunities in Vietnam’s engineering services, nuclear technology, infrastructure, energy, transport, environmental services, project management and consulting, with a focus on nuclear power cooperation.
At a meeting with Alexandre Prevost, President of Civil Aviation at Canada’s technology company CAE, General Secretary and President Lam proposed that CAE expand cooperation with Vietnam in the training of pilots, cabin crew, technicians, and air traffic controllers, as well as in simulation technology, with the aim of establishing Vietnam as a key hub for aviation training and simulation in Southeast Asia.
Meeting Toshiyuki Onuma, President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council, the Vietnamese top leader called on ICAO to continue to support Vietnam in enhancing its capacity for aviation safety, security, and air transport management, while also strengthening cooperation in sustainable aviation, sustainable aviation fuel, emissions reduction, and digital transformation.
Receiving Concordia University President and Vice-Chancellor Graham Carr, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his hope that education, science and technology, and innovation would become key pillars of Vietnam–Canada cooperation. He also called for stronger collaboration in training and research in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data governance, clean energy, and the development of high-quality human resources.
At a meeting with the Canada-Vietnam Friendship Association on Friday, Mr. Lam asked the Association to promote its role as a bridge between the people of the two countries, promote understanding, trust and friendship, and introduce to the Canadian public a true and objective image of a peaceful, stable, dynamic, innovative, integrated Vietnam.
