On September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
81 years later, the core values of the Declaration and the spirit of September 2, 1945 remain as relevant as ever, continuing to inspire the Party, people and armed forces in their efforts to build a strong, prosperous and happy Vietnam.
Large crowds gathered at Ba Dinh Square on Wednesday to pay tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visit the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site.
Earlier in the day, a solemn flag-raising ceremony was held at Ba Dinh Square, attended by large numbers of residents and visitors.
