General Secretary and President Lam, who also serves as Secretary of the Central Military Commission, addressed a ceremony held in Phu Tho province to mark the 80th traditional day of the Military Region 2 Armed Forces (October 19) and to receive the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces."
The top leader urged the Military Region 2 to carry out public outreach with respect, sincerity, and practical actions. “Officers and soldiers must understand local customs and traditions, learn the languages of ethnic minority communities, and listen to the people's thoughts and aspirations,” he said. He called on them to support areas facing hardship and strengthen solidarity among ethnic groups.
“I particularly emphasize the need to proactively reach out to the people and understand their needs to provide the right kind of assistance. In the event of natural disasters, actions must be taken promptly, prioritizing the protection of people's lives while ensuring the safety of the forces carrying out the mission. Following such crises, we must continue to assist the people in stabilizing their lives. During wartime, the people sheltered and supported the troops. In times of peace, the military must be even more dedicated to caring for and protecting the people,” Mr. Lam added.
The General Secretary and President also urged the Military Region’s armed forces to carry out the campaign titled "500 Days and Nights to Accelerate the Search, Repatriation, and Identification of Martyrs' Remains."
He called on them to closely with other forces and local authorities to deliver the foreign policy of the Party and State; remain steadfast in principles while demonstrating flexibility in handling situations; and firmly safeguard national sovereignty and interests.
Furthermore, the top leader urged them to strengthen solidarity and friendship with Lao localities and forces, maintain mechanisms for coordination and information exchange, promptly resolve emerging issues within their jurisdiction, and preserve a peaceful and stable environment along the border.
