Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Tshering W. Sherpa made the remarks in an interview with the Voice of Vietnam on Tuesday, on the occasion of the three-day visit until Thursday at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ambassador Sherpa noted that bilateral trade has doubled over the past decade to reach 16 billion USD, adding that both countries have significant potential for further growth, given their strengths in human resources, entrepreneurial capacity, and dynamic, forward-looking societies.
India aims to translate mutual trust into tangible outcomes in new areas of cooperation, including information and communications technology, innovation, science and technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, pharmaceuticals, transport, and infrastructure connectivity, he said.
The ambassador stressed that Vietnam is a key partner for India, not only under its “Act East” policy but also within its Indo-Pacific vision. India remains committed to further strengthening the dynamic Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and to working closely with Vietnam in multilateral frameworks to address shared regional and global challenges.
