The visit is an important diplomatic event aimed at implementing the foreign policy set out at the 14th National Party Congress, consolidating and further advancing Vietnam-China relations, strengthening cooperation between Vietnam’s National Assembly and China’s National People’s Congress, and reaffirming the central role of parliamentary cooperation in the overall Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, will co-chair the second session of the cooperation committee between the two legislative bodies. The session is expected to make parliamentary cooperation more substantive and effective.
Mr. Man is also scheduled to meet with senior Chinese leaders and representatives of China-Vietnam friendship organizations. On Sunday, he will meet with the Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, visit the Nanmapeng legislative contact point to learn about its operations, and meet with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and members of the Vietnamese community in China.
