Speaking at a congressional hearing, Rubio said President Trump himself will be attending the next NATO meeting of heads of state, where all these points will be made clear. While Washington remains a member, he said the organization needs "significant changes".
Rubio described the next meeting of the alliance involving 32 member countries “probably the most important meeting in NATO's history, because there are some things here that need to be cleared up and fixed.”
Relations between the US and NATO have become tense since European governments refused to join Washington and Israel in the conflict with Iran. Washington has also partially withdrawn its forces from Europe.
