During a Hanoi meeting with Lieutenant General Le Van Tuyen, Deputy Minister of Public Security, the UNDP representative said Vietnam's development priorities match the cooperation goals of the UN and UNDP in Vietnam.
UNDP is working with Vietnamese ministries and agencies on the National Program Document for 2027-2031 and hopes to continue receiving feedback from the Ministry of Public Security to refine the cooperation content for the new phase, according to Ms. Khalidi. UNDP is ready to continue supporting Vietnam in legal reform and capacity building for law enforcement, while expanding cooperation in new areas including responding to non-traditional security challenges, environmental protection, digital transformation, innovation, and data protection.
In discussion with the UNDP chief in Vietnam, Deputy Minister Tuyen said Vietnam is improving its legal system to better protect human rights, in accordance with international treaties to which Vietnam is a signatory. The country is strongly implementing policies for economic development linked to sustainable development, environmental protection, and social security.
The Deputy Minister added that functional units of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will coordinate with UNDP to develop a specific cooperation program for the next five years. This will contribute to improving law enforcement, ensuring human rights, and serving Vietnam's sustainable development and international integration, he said.
