At the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee in Busan, the Republic of Korea, on Thursday, the Committee highly commended Vietnam for fulfilling its commitments since the site was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2010, implementing the Committee's recommendations and those of international advisory bodies.
It also praised Vietnam's efforts to promote the site's value as a social, cultural and historical space, making the Thang Long Imperial Citadel a destination for exchange and cultural experiences for the people of Hanoi and nationwide.
UNESCO welcomed Vietnam's heritage vision, considering it an important basis for the proposed reconstruction of Kinh Thien Palace in line with the vision approved by the World Heritage Committee.
