The US–China trade truce was reached during a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea in October 2025, following tit-for-tat exchanges of tariffs that exceeded 100%.
Also on Wednesday, President Xi arrived at Joint Base Andrews just outside Washington, DC, for a state visit to the US. He was warmly welcomed by President Trump at the airport.
