US-China trade war causes controversy at Boao Forum for Asia

(VOVWORLD) - The US-China trade war will not only affect China but also surrounding countries, said former governor of the People’s Bank of China Dai Xianglong on Monday at the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA).

During the Forum’s second day, Mr. Dai said trade issues between China and the US can only be solved through dialogue.

Secretary General of the BFA Zhou Wenzhong said the world’s economic growth cannot be separated from Asia. He said he believes Asian economies are capable of fulfilling their own development goals.

The same day, former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon was elected chairman of the Boao Forum for Asia, replacing former Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda. Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Baodong was appointed BFA secretary general.
