The media cited the figures prepared by US Central Command on October 16 and shared by the Pentagon with Congress last week. According to the CENTCOM estimate, replacing ammunition, precision missiles, and other munitions used in the conflict accounts for the largest share of the expenditure, at around 29 billion USD. Roughly 6.1 billion USD is designated to replace lost military equipment and platform losses.
The figures were released as the US midterm election campaign entered its final stretch. The conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has driven up fuel prices, adding to the cost-of-living burden on American voters and affecting support for Republican candidates.
