Meanwhile, accordingt to a report by the Pentagon's official watchdog, the conflict has damaged or completely destroyed hundreds of buildings and other structures at US military bases in eight Middle Eastern countries, and has depleted stockpiles of strategic munitions.
The report, prepared by the US Department of War Inspector General at the request of Congress, was released Monday and covers the period from the start of the conflict on February 28 through June 30.
According to the report, the conflict, which President Trump initially estimated would last 4 to 5 weeks, has entered its 7th month and had cost the US 33.4 billion USD as of June 29. That figure does not include the cost of repairing damaged facilities, and experts say the conflict’s total cost could be significantly higher.
