Recent Iran's missile attacks in the region have raised risks of escalating conflict, while diplomatic efforts have yet to produce meaningful progress.
The US on Wednesday issued another round of sanctions, taking aim at entities that Washington said are linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). These entities provided maritime services to help Iran "monetize the Strait of Hormuz" and assisted Iran in evading existing sanctions, the US Treasury Department said.
The sanctions also target eight shipping companies that are part of what Washington called Iran's "shadow fleet," which Tehran uses to sustain its energy exports.
