At a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang in the US on Tuesday, Li said the UN is ready to give Vietnam policy advice and technical assistance, and connect Vietnam with international financial institutions and development banks to help it achieve its sustainable development goals.
Deputy Prime Minister Thang, who is in the US to conduct working sessions and attend the Vietnam Leadership Program, said Vietnam is committed to pursuing sustainable development, with people at the center of development as both driving force and beneficiary.
He called on the United Nations to continue sharing its experience and supporting Vietnam in responding to climate change, providing financial and technological resources to implement climate commitments, expand renewable energy, accelerate energy transition, and promote sustainable development in the Mekong Delta.
Vietnam also wants UN support in mobilizing official development assistance (ODA), with priority given to science and technology, digital transformation, and the development of high-quality human resources, he said.
