During a meeting with Governor-General Sam Mostyn in Canberra on Tuesday, Mr. Lam said Vietnam hopes to attract more high-quality investment under Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. He described Australia as a trusted friend and partner that shares many strategic interests with Vietnam and expressed confidence that his ongoing state visit would help elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
Governor-General Mostyn reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to being a reliable partner of Vietnam and its readiness to support the country’s development goals.
Party leader and President To Lam also called on Australia to continue supporting Vietnam in strengthening public governance, advancing administrative reform, and accelerating digital transformation in the public sector. He proposed expanding scholarship programs, deepening cooperation between universities and research institutions, and enhancing vocational training to meet workforce demands in emerging industries.
The Vietnamese leader further urged greater cultural, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, while expressing hope that Australia would continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to thrive, contribute to Australian society, and serve as a bridge of friendship between the two nations.
Governor-General Mostyn emphasized Australia’s desire to maintain a supportive environment for the Vietnamese community, enabling it to preserve its cultural identity while contributing to the diversity and prosperity of Australian society.
