Meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Mr. Lam reaffirmed Vietnam’s high regard for its relationship with the EU, calling the EU one of Vietnam’s leading partners in multiple fields. He called for continued coordination on issues of shared concern and translation of existing commitments into concrete projects commensurate with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established in January 2026.
During a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb Turning, Party leader and President Lam highlighted the momentum in bilateral relations since the two countries established a Strategic Partnership in October 2025. The two leaders agreed to make better use of their cooperation potential, with stronger collaboration in trade, science, technology, energy, satellites, cybersecurity, wastewater treatment, and green infrastructure.
While meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Georgiev Radev, the Vietnamese leader underscored Vietnam’s high regard for the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries, and called for regular exchanges at all levels ahead of the 70th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s visit to Bulgaria next year.
In his meeting with Denis Sassou N’Guesso, President of the Republic of the Congo, Mr. Lam noted the progress that has been made in bilateral relations, particularly in trade. The two leaders agreed to continue coordinating at multilateral forums like the UN and the International Organization of La Francophonie. Mr. Lam said Vietnam stands ready to support Vietnamese businesses investing in the Republic of the Congo and connecting Vietnam with African countries and the African Union.
