Mrs. Kim Anh, Chargé d'Affaires of the Vietnam Delegation to the United Nations, delivered a speech on behalf of ASEAN at the Open Debate of the UN Security Council on Children and Armed Conflict in New York on Tuesday. She called for greater consensus and stronger actions by the international community.
The protection of children is always high on ASEAN’s agenda, she said, adding that in 2016, the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children adopted a Work Plan for the period 2016-2020 with 16 thematic areas. The plan includes the elimination of violence against children and the right of children to participate in all affairs that affect them. ASEAN is committed to and is really to coordinate with its partners to ensure a better future for children all over the world, Anh affirmed.
