During talks in Phnom Penh on Friday, Prime Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Hun Manet pledged to effectively implement existing agreements and promote cooperation mechanisms to ensure stable, substantive, and sustainable bilateral ties. They also agreed to strengthen cooperation in maintaining security, public order, and social safety in each country.
The two sides will enhance cooperation between localities, particularly border provinces, and improve infrastructure, trade, and logistics connectivity to facilitate the movement of goods and people-to-people exchanges. The leaders witnessed the exchange of six cooperation documents covering security, drug prevention and control, trade, culture, education, and training.
Later that day, the two Prime Ministers co-chaired the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Forum 2026, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic cooperation amid continued volatility in global supply chains.
Prime Minister Hung called on both governments to continue simplifying procedures related to investment, land, immigration, customs, and quarantine. He suggested that regular dialogue between the two governments and businesses be maintained at least once a year to promptly resolve any obstacles.
“Priority should be given to developing networks of expressways, railways, and inland waterways. Progress on the Ho Chi Minh City–Moc Bai–Bavet–Phnom Penh expressway should be accelerated, while border gates, border markets, and logistics centers should be upgraded. The ‘one-stop, one-time inspection’ model should be effectively implemented at major border crossings to minimize time and costs,” said Mr. Hung.
Prime Minister Hun Manet called for a shift from “transport corridors” to “economic and production corridors.”
