During a meeting on Wednesday on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings in the Philippines, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi agreed to advance the building of the Vietnam-China Community with a shared future that carries strategic significance in a more practical and substantive manner, in line with the “six major orientations.”
The two ministers agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and meetings, strengthen ties between the two Parties and States, and make effective use of existing cooperation mechanisms, including the Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation and the “3+3” Strategic Dialogue on diplomacy, defense and public security.
They also pledged to enhance the alignment of development strategies and improve the quality and effectiveness of cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, science and technology, education and training, and people-to-people exchanges, while promoting more balanced, sustainable and mutually beneficial cooperation.
On the occasion, Minister Wang conveyed an invitation for Vietnamese leaders to attend the 2026 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in China.
