Speaking at the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC-2) in Cambodia on Thursday, she put forward several key proposals.
These included strengthening the voice of parliaments in promoting respect for the UN Charter, international law, multilateralism and the peaceful settlement of disputes; enhancing the role of parliamentary diplomacy in conflict prevention, resolution and post-conflict reconstruction through dialogue, confidence-building and reconciliation; and linking peacebuilding with sustainable development and efforts to address emerging global challenges.
She also called for greater support for the signing and ratification of the Hanoi Convention on Cybercrime.
On the sidelines of the conference, Ms. Thanh held separate meetings with Sounthone Xayachack, Acting President of the National Assembly of Laos, and Andrew Asiamah Amoako, Second Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana.
