He noted Vietnam is preparing to take part in global 6G research, standardization, and development, adding telecommunications technologies require close international coordination to ensure networks operate seamlessly worldwide. To support this effort, the Ministry of Science and Technology has established a national 6G Steering Committee comprising telecommunications and spectrum regulators, telecom operators, and universities.

The committee will help businesses and academic institutions participate in 6G research and standard-setting, enabling Vietnam to master the technology early and prepare for its deployment under local conditions, Cuong said.

According to the Telecommunications Authority, Vietnam has deployed more than 40,000 5G base stations, providing coverage to around 92% of the population. Although Vietnam was not among the first countries to launch 5G services, it has become one of the world's fastest 5G roll-out markets.
