Vietnam exports cars to Mexico, Australia for the first time

[VOVWORLD] - For the first time, cars produced in Vietnam have been shipped to major markets outside the ASEAN region, opening access to destinations with stringent quality and product standards.

Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam on Friday celebrated a significant milestone in Ninh Binh with the export of Hyundai vehicles—manufactured and assembled in Vietnam—to Mexico and Australia. The company plans to expand exports to Taiwan in 2026. Its export operations have broadened from a primarily Asian focus to Asia, the Americas, and Oceania.

Hyundai Thanh Cong projects its total export volume for 2026 to reach 15,280 units, comprising 10,160 finished vehicles and 5,120 component kits. The move serves as a stepping stone for the company to transition from serving the domestic market to participating more deeply in the global automotive value chain.
