“Vietnam’s position on the Hoang Sa archipelago is clear and consistent. The country has full historical evidence and legal grounds to affirm its sovereignty over the archipelago, including Hai Sam (Antelope) Reef and Ba Ba (Yagong) Island, in accordance with international law,” she said in response to a reporter’s question about Vietnam’s reaction to China’s land reclamation and construction activities at the two sites.

Ms. Hang reaffirmed that all foreign activities in the Hoang Sa archipelago, including at Hai Sam Reef and Ba Ba Island, without Vietnam’s permission are completely illegal and null and void.

Vietnam demands an immediate halt to such activities and that they not be repeated, she said.
