During the conversation, Prime Minister Hung affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its strategic partnership with Germany and called for broader and more concrete cooperation between the two countries.

He proposed increasing exchanges at all levels, particularly high-level visits and contacts through various channels, while making more effective use of existing cooperation mechanisms to create favorable conditions for expanding collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The Vietnamese Prime Minister encouraged German businesses to expand investment in areas where they have strengths, including mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, healthcare and energy transition, while calling for stronger links between the two countries’ financial and securities markets.

Prime Minister Hung welcomed Germany’s completion of the ratification process for the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement, or EVIPA.

He urged Germany to continue encouraging other EU member states to complete their ratification procedures and to support the European Commission in removing its “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood exports.

He proposed expanding cooperation in UN peacekeeping operations, promoting German-standard dual vocational training programs in Vietnam, and expanding German scholarship programs to provide more opportunities for Vietnamese students and officials to study and conduct research in Germany.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Vietnam-Germany relations are developing very positively and have strong foundations and potential for further advancement.

He agreed to strengthen cooperation in transport, logistics, air connectivity, the green transition and climate change response, as well as to effectively implement the framework of the Vietnam-Germany Energy Partnership.

He also said science and technology and innovation should become key pillars of bilateral ties in the coming period, with the two sides promoting joint research projects and expanding training cooperation for experts and engineers in strategic technology fields.
