Vietnam gives priority to climate change response, renewable energy development

(VOVWORLD) - Nguyen Van Binh, head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission, has reiterated that Vietnam gives prioriy to climate change response, energy security, and safe, renewable energy development.

Mr. Binh made the statement at a reception in Hanoi on Friday for Christiana Figueres, chief of the 2020 Initiative on Climate Change and former Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He said that he hopes Ms. Christiana will work closely with Vietnam in climate change study and response and renewable energy development.

Ms. Christiana applauded Vietnam’s efforts and achievements, expecting that Vietnam will become a role model in climate change adaptation and energy restructuring towards sustainability.
