At the opening session on August 24, attended by Argentine Ambassador Roberto Alejandro Salafia, Deputy Secretary for International Economic Negotiations and Integration at Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet, and members of the Vietnamese and MERCOSUR negotiating teams, both sides reaffirmed their determination to advance the negotiations in a spirit of goodwill, openness and constructive engagement.

They said they aim to reach a balanced agreement that serves the interests of both Vietnam and MERCOSUR.

On August 26, the Vietnamese and MERCOSUR negotiating teams met with Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno. At the meeting, Minister Quirno described Vietnam as an important partner for Argentina in Southeast Asia.

The first round of Vietnam-MERCOSUR PTA negotiations concluded on August 28, laying an important foundation for further discussions and preparations for the next round.

Both sides are working toward an effective and balanced trade agreement that delivers practical benefits to all parties.
