Mr. To Lam said Vietnam is ready to share its development experience with Myanmar, including in ensuring economic security, promoting sustainable growth, maintaining macroeconomic stability, policymaking and socio-economic management. He stressed the need to effectively implement existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms to deepen and strengthen bilateral ties.
President Min Aung Hlaing expressed his wish to learn from Vietnam’s development experience and reaffirmed Myanmar’s commitment to strengthening its traditional friendship and Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership with Vietnam.
The two leaders agreed to strengthen political trust through high-level exchanges and cooperation across Party, State, Government and parliamentary channels, as well as people-to-people exchanges.
They agreed to enhance defense and security cooperation, including training, young-officer exchanges, disaster response and combating transnational crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, high-tech crime and online scams.
The two sides also agreed to expand economic, trade and investment cooperation and increase coordination at ASEAN and Mekong sub-regional mechanisms. They stressed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea, and settling disputes peacefully in accordance with international law, including UNCLOS 1982.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen exchanges and experience-sharing in strategic areas of regional cooperation, including transport infrastructure connectivity among Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar in the Mekong subregion, as well as the sustainable management and use of water resources.
