In two recent operations, doctors and specialists at Vinmec Smart City Hospital in Hanoi and Vinmec Can Tho International General Hospital took turns directly controlling the robotic surgical system remotely while coordinating with teams in the operating rooms. The support of high-definition magnified imaging and flexible robotic instruments helped ensure the success of both procedures.

At a press conference on Monday in Can Tho to announce the launch of the two-way remote robotic surgery network, Dr. Le Hoang Vinh, Director of Vinmec Can Tho International General Hospital, said: "Robotic surgery and remote robotic surgery are among the inevitable trends in modern surgical practice worldwide, particularly in advanced and developed countries. Robotic surgery offers significant benefits for certain types of procedures, especially those involving areas that are difficult to access.”

Vingroup and the Vinmec Healthcare System have established a fund of more than 10.6 million USD to help people gain access to advanced medical technology in the Mekong Delta, Dr. Vinh added. Patients undergoing robotic surgery can receive financial support so that they pay the same out-of-pocket cost as they would for conventional surgery.
