The two sides will continue negotiations on agreements relating to investment protection, aviation, and other areas to create a more favorable framework for expanded cooperation.
The leaders emphasized the importance of leveraging each country’s geoeconomic advantages and enhancing connectivity in transportation, logistics, financial flows, and supply chains between East Asia and Latin America.
They also agreed to continue coordinating and supporting one another at international organizations and multilateral forums. Reaffirming their commitment to international law and the United Nations Charter, they voiced support for freedom, safety, and security of navigation and overflight, as well as the peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law, particularly the UN Charter and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Party leader and President Lam noted that the two countries had adopted a Joint Statement outlining the orientations, objectives, principles, and priority areas of bilateral cooperation in the years ahead. They also agreed to strengthen state, parliamentary, and people-to-people diplomacy, while creating favorable conditions for businesses to access each other’s markets and participate more deeply in regional and global supply chains.
President Mulino said Panama aims to serve as a gateway for Vietnamese businesses seeking access to Latin American and Caribbean markets. He encouraged Vietnamese enterprises to expand their presence in Panama and use it as a springboard into the wider region.
He also reaffirmed Panama’s desire to strengthen ties with Vietnam, deepen its engagement with Asia, and create new opportunities for trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
