The high-level delegation of Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense, led by General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, attended the meeting from Hanoi.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of ASEAN member states to strengthening mutual trust, enhancing coordination and joint action, and promoting peace and stability throughout the region. It also reinforced ASEAN’s solidarity and collective resolve amid evolving regional and global challenges.
As an active and responsible member of ASEAN and the international community, General Nguyen Tan Cuong affirmed that the Vietnam People’s Army would continue contributing to the building of a united, proactive, adaptive, and future-ready ASEAN.
Addressing the issue of the East Sea, General Cuong emphasized that Vietnam consistently upholds the principle of resolving disputes and differences through peaceful means, on the basis of respecting the independence, sovereignty, and legitimate interests of all nations, in accordance with international law.
The meeting adopted the ASEAN militaries’ Two-Year Action Plan for the 2026–2028 period, as well as a Joint Declaration on “Together Ensuring Our Future.” At the conclusion of the conference, the Philippines officially handed over the chairmanship of ACDFM-24 to Singapore.
