Vietnam has 70,900 administrative and public service units, a 16.4% drop from 2020. Preliminary data shows the number of economic units has increased compared to the previous census period, reflecting the growth trend of the enterprise sector and structural shifts between economic sectors.

The foreign-invested enterprise sector continues to grow in both the number of enterprises and the scale of operations, affirming the attractiveness of Vietnam's investment environment.

Finance Minister Ngo Van Tuan said the census findings will help Party and Government leaders in macro-level management, administration, and policymaking. “This census counts available resources and serves as a rehearsal of the digital transformation of the statistics sector. It opens up a new, more efficient, higher-quality statistical method in the digital era,” said Tuan.

The national economic census took place from January 5 to April 30 this year but the official results will not be released until December, when a comprehensive and detailed indicator system and in-depth analytical reports will be published.
