The congress coincides with the 80th anniversary of the organization (November 23) and marks a new stage in its development as Vietnam enters a new era of national growth, with increasing demands for humanitarian work, social security, and sustainable development.
Nguyen Hai Anh, Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, said at a press conference in Hanoi on Tuesday: “The new term begins at a time when Vietnam is pursuing ambitious development goals while facing unprecedented challenges, including climate change, extreme weather, population aging, inequality, and emerging humanitarian risks. Humanitarian work must become an integral part of sustainable development, human security, and community resilience. Reflecting this vision, the congress has adopted the theme: ‘Strengthening the Society's core role in humanitarian work; promoting innovation, digital transformation, and resource connectivity; building a strong organization and fostering safe, resilient, and sustainably developed communities.”
The congress will review the implementation of the resolution adopted at the 11th National Congress, set priorities and tasks for the next term, and elect a new leadership board the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
