Speaking to a VOV correspondent on the sidelines of the ongoing 2026 Eastern Economic Forum in Russia, Minister Tuan said Russia’s Far East is creating new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

“Bilateral trade grew an average of 10.8% per year between 2016 and 2025. However, total two-way trade of 4.7 billion USD in 2025 remained modest. We are demonstrating strong determination to raise economic relations to a level commensurate with the political and diplomatic relations between our two countries. I believe this year’s forum will open up significant new opportunities for Vietnamese and ASEAN businesses,” he said.

At the 2026 Eastern Economic Forum, both Vietnam and Russia emphasized the need to deepen Eurasian cooperation. They stressed that cooperation should move beyond trade exchanges and dialogue toward concrete projects in manufacturing, transportation, logistics, technology and people-to-people connectivity.
