During a meeting with Julien Guerrier, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Vietnam, on Friday in Hanoi, Minister Minh called for support for Vietnam in refining policies regarding water supply and drainage, underground space development, and Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) models, as well as investment through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
The Minister emphasized the need for both sides to enhance the exchange and sharing of experiences regarding Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), the application of artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital twin technology in infrastructure management, operation, and maintenance.
Vietnam seeks to collaborate with the EU on establishing new direct maritime routes or strengthening existing ones to boost logistics capacity, reduce transport costs, and foster bilateral trade, the Minister said.
Ambassador Guerrier said the EU has launched the Vietnam Transport Support Program valued at 40 million euros (46.25 million USD) and led by the French Development Agency (AFD). The EU is currently working with Vietnamese authorities to compile a list of potential projects, focusing on three areas: railways, inland waterways, and urban transport.
