At a meeting of the APEC 2027 National Committee in Hanoi on Thursday, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc called for thorough preparations across all areas, from content and logistics to security and protocol, to ensure a successful APEC Year.
He also urged the Ministry of Finance to urgently secure funding, while subcommittees finalize plans for facilities, logistics, protocol, security, healthcare, communications and cultural activities.
Localities are expected to proactively prepare infrastructure, human resources, and cultural, tourism and culinary products.
Mr. Tuc said: “We must review and ensure readiness in terms of facilities, logistics, protocol, security, healthcare, communications and content in order to organize the event thoroughly and professionally, make a positive impression from the outset and build momentum for APEC Year 2027. The Secretariat should continue implementing the work plan, closely monitor the implementation of tasks assigned by the National Committee, and issue guidelines for organizing conferences in October 2026 as a basis for ministries, sectors and localities to carry out their preparations.”
The three major priorities for APEC Year 2027 are raising economic productivity, promoting regional integration, and strengthening economic resilience and dynamism. Twenty-one projects serving APEC Year 2027 are on schedule, with several projects directly serving Leaders’ Week ahead of schedule.
Training, capacity building and support for localities are also continuing as part of the preparations.
