The consensus was reached during Party General Secretary and State President To Lam’s reception in Hanoi on Thursday for Sophon Zaram, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.
The two sides agreed to deepen cooperation in defense and security, strengthen coordination in combating transnational crime, and promote balanced and sustainable trade growth.
Party leader and President To Lam called on Thailand to continue supporting and creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living in the country.
Mr. Zaram said Thailand is interested in learning from Vietnam’s experience in streamlining the state apparatus and wishes to further strengthen comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in economics, trade, education, and tourism.
Both sides agreed to continue close coordination in regional and international frameworks, especially ASEAN and the United Nations.
