Party leader and President Lam will attend the High-Level General Debate of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly and engage in bilateral activities in the US beginning on Sunday.

His participation demonstrates Vietnam’s consistent foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, development, and multilateralization and diversification of external relations, Ambassador Viet said.

He noted that the participation of Mr. Lam and a high-level Vietnamese delegation in the world’s largest multilateral forum is particularly significant this year, the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the beginning of a new era of national development.

In this period, foreign affairs and international integration have been described for the first time as “a key and regular task”.

Ambassador Viet said Vietnam’s priorities are to safeguard a peaceful, stable environment, create new opportunities for cooperation, connect more deeply with emerging global development trends, and enhance its contributions to global politics, the world economy, and human civilization.

He said that at the UN General Assembly, Mr. Lam will deliver an address emphasizing trust and working together to ensure that global shifts create opportunities for peace, cooperation, and development, and move toward a fairer, more humane international order.
