The achievements were attributed to the National Assembly Resolution on Promoting Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the 2016-2020 period. Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said: “Vietnam is now a bright spot in poverty reduction. The poverty rate in Vietnam has reduced from 7% in 2015 to current 6.77%. We aim to pursue sustainable poverty reduction. We need to be resolute and patient during this struggle.”
Vietnam hopes to reduce poverty to below 4% by 2020 and minimize recurrences of poverty and its associated risks.
