Admiral Samuel Paparo, Commander of the US Pacific Command, made the remarks at a press briefing in Hanoi on Thursday during his ongoing visit to Vietnam.
Admiral Paparo said the US will continue to support Vietnam's 500-day campaign to search for, recover, and identify the remains of fallen soldiers and the two sides will maintain technical exchanges on DNA identification, witness information gathering, dioxin remediation, and the clearance of unexploded ordnance left over from the war.
He emphasized that the US continues to regard the Indo-Pacific as a strategic priority and is committed to working with regional partners to maintain peace, stability, and the rule of law.
