At a reception for Jon M. Huntsman, Mastercard’s Vice Chairman and President of Strategic Growth, in Hanoi on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Trung said Vietnam attaches importance to its relations with the US and values the stable, positive and increasingly substantive development of bilateral ties, particularly since the two countries established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023.
He said the Vietnamese Government regards foreign-invested businesses and leading US technology corporations important partners in transforming Vietna's growth model, developing digital infrastructure, promoting financial inclusion and ensuring information security.
Huntsman said Mastercard is committed to long-term investment, expanding strategic cooperation with partners in Vietnam and supporting the country’s national digital transformation.
He also praised Vietnam’s preparations to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings in 2027. Mastercard stands ready to work closely with Vietnam on concrete initiatives to make the event successful, he said.
